I am of Ngāpuhi, Te Aupōuri, and Ngāti Kuri descent, and I currently reside in Kirikiriroa.
With over 20 years of experience in the addiction and mental health sector, I have dedicated a significant portion of my career to Waitemata DHB, specializing in cultural services. During this time, I have worked in various roles, including as an alcohol and other drug (AOD) clinician, where I conducted assessments, facilitated group sessions, and provided one-on-one counseling in both CADS and mainstream settings.
For the past four years, I have focused on supporting individuals affected by sexual trauma, particularly whānau referred through the Royal Commission into abuse in state care. This continues to be an important area of my work, where I provide ongoing support to whānau navigating these difficult experiences.
Currently, I operate as a private counsellor and clinical supervisor, managing my own practice with contracts across the health and private sectors. In addition to clinical work, I am an ACC Rongoā Māori Practitioner, providing services such as mirimiri, romiromi, komiri, and haputanga (pregnancy massage and fertility) for whānau who have experienced physical, mental, and spiritual trauma.
Since becoming an ACC Rongoā Māori practitioner in 2019, I have worked to integrate both clinical and cultural perspectives in my practice, offering a holistic approach to healing. My extensive experience in this space spans over 20 years, and I remain deeply committed to supporting the wellbeing of whānau in a culturally sensitive and meaningful way.

Manaaki Tangata Consultants is dedicated to teaching and providing a thorough understanding of Rongoā Rangatiratanga to those seeking to become proficient Rongoā Māori Practitioners. Our mission is to share the knowledge of traditional Māori healing practices, their history, and their significance in tikanga Māori. We share and use this knowledge to heal the people!
Rongoā Māori and Romi Romi are acknowledged as efficacious modalities for facilitating the recovery of patients and clients through the amalgamation of traditional and clinical techniques. These modalities encompass the manipulation of the body's soft tissues and the precise targeting of specific muscle groups, tailored to the individual and their level of physical conditioning. Moreover, they can function as an intervention for domestic accidents, as well as work and sports-related musculoskeletal injuries.
There is no certification for traditional Māori Healing. This revered knowledge is transmitted exclusively through the tohunga whakapapa and bloodline that is imparted solely to individuals whose life's vocation is the service of our community through Atua, Wairua, and our Tipuna. This taonga cannot be confused with Rongoā Māori Tohu, where teachings and knowledge are learning rongoā rākau for Māori Healing internal and external mamae of tinana and hinengaro.
Manaaki Tangata provide Rongoā Māori to compliment holistic (wairua), psychological (hinengaro) and physical (tinana) services for your wellbeing. Let us help you and your family (whānau) find your calm and peace to heal.
