Areas of specialty
Kia ora. I am a rongoā Māori practitioner in Te Rohe Pōtae o Tūhoe, where I’ve been working in natural ways of healing and empowering others for nearly 14 years. My practice includes rongoā in all its forms (mirimiri, rongoā rākau, karakia and whakawhiti kōrero) for tinana, ngākau, wairua, hinengaro.
Each person is unique and has their own abilities to tap into their health. When we meet, we will work through a Te Whare Tapa Whā framework to understand where you’re at, and then identify tools which will guide and help empower you in mind, body, emotions, and spirit. These practices can be implemented by and used to achieve greater health for anyone.
I am also available for online sessions for some of the tapawhā.

Based in a clinic space at Las Palmas Building in Hastings, Lisa offers the traditional healing art of Mirimiri Romiromi. Each session is a one-hour journey towards wellness.
Our Kaupapa Māori Approach: Embracing kaupapa Māori, our mirimiri romiromi services weave together tikanga Māori (customs), mātauranga Māori (knowledge), te reo Māori (language), and te ao Māori (worldview) into a tapestry of holistic healing. We treat more than just physical ailments; we nurture the whole being, aiming to rejuvenate your mana (prestige/power) and mauri (life force). Integral to our sessions are karakia (prayers) and whakawhiti kōrero (dialogues), ensuring a culturally immersive and spiritually enriching experience that concludes with a closing karakia.
Please note, the clinic is not equipped with wheelchair access, and services are provided exclusively at this location.

Manaaki Tangata Consultants is dedicated to teaching and providing a thorough understanding of Rongoā Rangatiratanga to those seeking to become proficient Rongoā Māori Practitioners. Our mission is to share the knowledge of traditional Māori healing practices, their history, and their significance in tikanga Māori. We share and use this knowledge to heal the people!
Rongoā Māori and Romi Romi are acknowledged as efficacious modalities for facilitating the recovery of patients and clients through the amalgamation of traditional and clinical techniques. These modalities encompass the manipulation of the body's soft tissues and the precise targeting of specific muscle groups, tailored to the individual and their level of physical conditioning. Moreover, they can function as an intervention for domestic accidents, as well as work and sports-related musculoskeletal injuries.
There is no certification for Traditional Māori Healing. This revered knowledge is transmitted exclusively through the tohunga whakapapa and bloodline that is imparted solely to individuals whose life's vocation is the service of our community through Atua, Wairua, and our Tipuna. This taonga cannot be confused with Rongoā Māori Tohu, where teachings and knowledge are learning rongoā rākau for Māori Healing internal and external mamae of tinana and hinengaro.
Manaaki Tangata provide Rongoā Māori to compliment holistic (wairua), psychological (hinengaro) and physical (tinana) services for your well-being. Let us help you and your family (whanau) find your calm and peace to heal.
