Crisis intervention training

CISM training 2025

Group Crisis Intervention (GCI) | 2 day intensive training

The CISM Crisis Intervention Stress Management training programmes present the core elements of a comprehensive and systematic crisis intervention curriculum. These intensive courses prepare participants to understand a wide range of crisis intervention services including:

  • Pre and post incident crisis education
  • Crisis intervention for individuals
  • Small group courses include Immediate Small Group Support (defuse) and Powerful Event Group Support (psychological debrief)
  • Rest, Information & Transition Service (Demobilisation) and Crisis Management Briefings (CMB) after both small and large-scale traumatic incidents

These examine the theoretical basis behind Critical Incident Stress management as well as the need for appropriate follow-up services and referrals. The course highlights the difference between internationally accepted protocols in the areas of post-incident support and therapeutic intervention.
