Our partners at Menopause & Wellness often hear women say, "I’m noticing some changes in my body and how I feel each day, and I’m wondering what is going on". For many women, it's not always obvious that they might be experiencing perimenopause or menopause, or how to tell which one is which.
Let's break it down.
Perimenopause acts as the transitional stage when the amount of fertility hormones being produced starts to decline even while a woman is still having periods.
One year after a woman's final menstrual cycle, she is considered to have experienced menopause.
This only scratches the surface of the differences and connections between perimenopause and menopause, including typical ages where this is experienced, the 34 possible symptoms and the impact this life stage can have on someone's work and wellbeing.
But this doesn't mean that women have to go it alone. With education and awareness, women can identify the different stages of menopause and their partners/workplaces can better support them during this time.
